ESAG Penninghen is a private establishment of higher education, accredited as such since 30 March 1953, registered at the French National Ministry of Education and Research. After 5 years of post-Baccalaureate studies, one of two European Master Level Degrees may be awarded:
- Degree in “Art Direction” , state-certified, qualification for careers in image-making, visual communication (graphic design, press, video, television, cinema), and 2D-3D interactive design.
- Degree in “Interior Architecture/Design” ,recognized by the CFAI (French Board of Interior Architects), state-certified Level II, qualification for careers in architecture, interior design, exhibition/display design, scenography, furniture design, digital design, and 3D design.

In order to facilitate international student mobility during the course of studies, ESAG/Penninghen, co-founder of the Cumulus network and founding member of France Design Education (FDE), works toward the clarification and recognition of academic degrees and studies within the European Union.

School of Design, Graphic Design, and Interior Architecture
The school is located in the heart of the Saint-Germain-des-Près district, between the Paris metro stations Saint-Sulpice and Sèvres-Babylone. Only minutes away: the Louvre and Orsay Museums. The 6th arrondissement is an exceptional area to live and work in. The school premises are those of the celebrated Académie Julian, where students may follow in the footsteps of Gauguin, Matisse, Mucha, Van de Velde, Grey, Bourgeois, Rauchenberg or Lartigue as they work and learn.
ESAG/Penninghen signed the Kyoto Design Declaration, concerning the role of Design in Society.
Conceived and drafted by Yrjo Sotamaa, Rector of the University of Art and Design in Helsinki (TAIK),founder and former President of Cumulus, this Declaration expresses the awareness that Cumulus Members have of their responsibilities in the formation of sustainable, creative societies, centered on Man and the Environment.
