What are the specific requirements for dancers and dance companies in terms of space, in order to practice and perform their art properly? Are modern day venues designed according to their needs?

As opposed to the opera, which has been hosted in opera houses since the end of the 17th century, dance - which has developed as an art since the beginning of the 20th century - has not been at the center of architectural reflexion to create a personalised place. Dance is practiced in different settings and in various ways: outdoor theatre, concert rooms, cabarets, music halls or in Italian-style theatres where the structure is frontal and offers a sole and unique perspective of the stage. When performing artists rightly claim a « space to work », no ideal place can be found. Despite dance studios being practical according to most. Some projects, because of their aesthetic need a different style of place. What would be a perfect place for dance?
